SEAFORD Police Station could soon be welcoming other public service agencies to its home in the town centre.

Seaford Town Council, Lewes District Council and Sussex Police are close to forming a partnership to share the building in Church Street.

The two councils and the police have been working for nearly a year, exploring the possibility of developing the police station into a Seaford help point.

The town's tourist information centre (TIC), district council services, Seaford Citizens' Advice Bureau (CAB) and an online help-point kiosk linked to the East Sussex County Council information technology network, will all work together for the benefit of the local community.

There is space available in the premises for the multi-agency set up. The idea is to serve as many of the townspeople's needs as possible from one location.

Last year, the district council confirmed that the TIC would remain in Seaford when the lease ran out at Clinton Place.

The Seaford office of the Lewes and Seaford CAB are working at full capacity with very limited office space. The town council is an ever-expanding organisation which will shortly need more space.

The new facility should be in operation in March next year and hopes to offer enhanced facilities for residents and visitors to the town. It should also ensure the long term future of the CAB and TIC and ensure a police presence in the town.
