Northiam bonfire tradition rises like a phoenix
Bonfire returned to Northiam with a bang at the weekend when the village held it’s first traditional bonfire celebrations for more than 40 years.
Newly formed Northiam Bonfire Society’s first big event is being hailed a great success.
They had a perfect clear night for the bonfire and fireworks on the Recreation Ground.

Hide AdIt was preceded by a torch-lit procession along Main Street, which saw societies from Rye, Battle, Staplecross, Robertsbridge and Hastings taking part.
A collection on the night raised money for Northiam Pre-School, Northiam Scouts and Frewen College.
