New apprentice settles in well

AN AWARD winning Nutley garage has recruited a new apprentice to tinker with cars.

Daryl Singyard, 16, a former Uckfield Community School pupil, will work towards an NVQ 3 in Motor Mechanics at Nutley Motor Services.

His appointment comes after the garage was given a Learn Skills Council Train Again award.

Director Nick Purton, 43, from the service garage, felt the new recruit had settled in well.

He said: 'Daryl is a very nice lad and eager to learn.

'We believe we are the only garage in the area offering apprenticeships.

'It's a small business but we like to give youngsters an opportunity.

'Hopefully we will get more.'

Mr Purton and his wife Bethan took over the 20-year-old garage 18 months ago.
