Mudlarks tough out their assault course challenge

BUNKERS should hold a little less dread for five members of an Angmering golf club who ploughed through a 5km mud assault course.

Sarah Divis, Jane Quinn, Catherine Mackenzie, Susie de las Casas and Karen Holman, of Ham Manor Golf Club, emerged spattered, battered and bruised, yet smiling, after raising more than £2,000 for the Emily Ash Trust, which supports children with cancer.

The mudlarks, all from the Angmering and East Preston area, chose the charity because Catherine’s grandson, Harrison, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in October, at the age of five. He is undergoing a lengthy programme of treatment at the Royal Marsden Cancer Hospital in Banstead, near his family’s home in Cheam, Surrey.

The challenge was held at Henfold Lakes, near Dorking.

Catherine described the Amily Ash Trust, based in New Malden, Surrey, as ‘a small charity with a big heart’, with the main aim of improving the lives of children with cancer, and their immediate family, in Sussex, Surrey and Kent.
