MP meets with Rother police chiefs

LOCAL MP Greg Barker met with senior police chiefs last week, to discuss improved approaches to policing in Rother.

Chief Constable Martin Richards and Rother District Commander Heather Keating met Mr Barker in his office on Amherst Road last Friday.

Chief Constable Richards said: I consider part of my role as a Chief Constable to get out and about around East Sussex, and part of how I do that is to meet key people, whether that person is the local news editor, or chief executives of the District Council, or the local MP in his constituency.

"This helps me to get a feel for whether there are good working relationships or if there are any issues needing to be addressed.

"It also gives me an opportunity to underline my vision for policing in Sussex over the next three years.

"I am pleased to say that so far this seems to be an excellent working relationship."

Greg Barker MP said: "I was extremely pleased that the Chief Constable took the time to come to Bexhill to discuss our policing.

I impressed upon him the importance of real community policing, on the ground level that makes such a difference to so many people's lives, and I was encouraged to see his commitment to tackling the problems that I know are important to this town."
