Man killed in A21 crash

A MAN has died after his Peugeot car hit a bridge on the A21 near Battle on this morning (February 9).

The collision happened around 7.15am when the car, travelling north, left the carriageway on the left hand side and collided with a bridge parapet just north of the junction with Marley Lane.

The road has been closed between Marley Lane and Johns Cross and is expected to remain closed until at least 11am.

The driver, a 37-year-old man from Bexhill, was declared dead at the scene.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have seen a black Peugeot 107 in the area in the time leading up to it to call 0845 60 70 999, quoting Operation Azure.
