Man hospitalised after attempted robbery in Hove
A group of men, all in their 20s, were walking from Brighton at around 2am on Sunday (March 11). They were heading north on Somerhill Road, Hove past St Ann’s Well Gardens when another group of men came out of the garden and shouted at them.
The group walked onto Somerhill Avenue and Holland Road and began to be chased by the other group. They caught up with them at the junction of Holland Road and Cromwell Road and a fight broke out.

Hide AdPolice said one of the suspects tried to grab the victim’s bag and he was hit over the head with something heavy.
The victim, a 20-year-old man, received hospital treatment for a cut to his head.
Detective constable Andy Beaumont said: “There were four suspects, three white men and one black or mixed race man all 16 or 17-year-olds, all wearing hooded tops.’’
“Thankfully the victim wasn’t badly hurt. We are appealing to anyone who heard or saw anything between St Ann’s Well Gardens and the Palmeira pub on Cornwell Road. Please contact us.”
