Littlehampton support group gather for fun

LOOKING after each other means pausing to have some fun sometimes, says a community support group.

SNAP, which is run by parents for parents and carers of children with disabilities or special needs, held an Easter fun day last week.

About 40 people went to Hedgehog Hollow, in Clun Road, to join in the fun, which included an Easter egg hunt, and an Easter bonnet competition, judged by the newly-crowned Littlehampton Carnival Queen, Kirsty Alderton, and, appropriately enough, carnival mascot Hampton the Hedgehog.

Lesley Chewter, of the group, said it was SNAP’s first public event, and she was really pleased so many people came along.

“It was a fantastic day, and the kids really, loved it.”

She added that SNAP aimed to help parents through all aspects of having a child with special needs or a disability, something she knew first hand, as her son, James, 10, has ADHD, probable dyspraxia and possible Tourette syndrome.

Lesley thanked Somerfield, Littlehampton and Wick, Sainsbury’s, Lidl and Tesco, for donating Easter eggs to the event,

The group currently meets at the Locomotive pub, in Lyminster Road, every Friday, from 10am-noon. From June 24, its base will become Chilgrove House, in Wick.
