Littlehampton choir hopes new faces will leave it singing for joy

RECRUITS are being sought to bolster a community choir based in Littlehampton.

The Edwin James Festival Choir has been running successfully since 1998. It is now opening its doors for a fresh batch of singers to swell its ranks this month.

The choir rehearses every Wednesday evening at St James’ Church hall, in East Ham Road, from 7.30pm.

Founded by James Rushman, the choir has gone from strength-to-strength, performing numerous concerts from classical, modern and fun in support of local charities and raising well over £100,000 to date.

Anyone over 16, whether able to read music or not, will receive a warm welcome.

Voices are assessed for vocal range but there is no formal audition.

Choir member Carole Harris felt the choir had given her a second family. She said: “I joined the choir seven happy, fulfilling years ago. I moved from Norfolk to Littlehampton and found it difficult to settle, but all this altered when a neighbour introduced me to the Edwin James Festival Choir. We are like one big happy family, and it is with great honour and pride that I can call myself a member.”

Others joined the choir for a range of reasons, from finding new friends to forgetting health ailments or recent bereavements. For details on the choir see www.edwinjamesfestivalchoir.co.uk or email [email protected]
