Library launch Dragon's card

CHILDREN on their half term break were invited to visit Bexhill's newly refurbished library on Thursday to indulge their imagination and do 'dragon-y things.'

Specifically aimed at 8 -11 year olds, and as part of East Sussex county council's, 'the magic of libraries for children', the event celebrated the launch of the new 'dragon' library card which, Assistant in Charge of Services for Young People, Jean Burke, said they are hoping will, "encourage children of that age group to use the library and to take pride in using it."

During the hour long event children had the opportunity to make a dragon mobile and listen to Jean read from the pop-up 'Dragon World' book.

Jean said that the stunning dragon logo printed on the new cards and the information leaflets was designed by a member of Hastings library.

She added: "We are very proud of the design. Our Elmer the Elephant card, which is for children up to age eight, is very successful and we are hoping that eventually we will have a card for ages twelve and over."

Along with a vast selection of books, CD's and DVD's to hire, the library offers many activities to keep children of all ages amused including story times, rhyme times, special events, a summer reading challenge, help with homework and internet access.
