Knife raider in off-licence terror

A KNIFE-brandishing raider made off with a fist full of money after threatening off-licence staff.

The raider waved what police later described as a large kitchen knife above his head and demanded: "Give us all your money!"

Saturday evening's raid on Thresher's off-licence in St Leonards Road was made shortly before 9.30pm.

The raider waved the knife, scaring staff and the sole customer present.

Inspector Max Mosley said a member of staff handed over 200 in notes

The thief is described as about 19,white, 5ft 7ins and of medium build.

He was wearing a scarf round his face, a baseball cap, woollen gloves, beige trousers, a dark padded jacket and white trainers.

He spoke with a Northern accent and was described as having dark eyes.

He ran off towards Devonshire Road and then doubled back towards the station.
