Inspector backs mast bid

A mobile phone mast looks set to be built in Station Road, Polegate.

A government planning inspector backed an appeal by T Mobile against Wealden District Council which rejected the application.

The mobile phone company wants to install a 11.7 metre high telecommunications pole.

The inspector's report stated: 'I am satisfied that there is a need for additional coverage in the area.

'I do not consider that the proposed equipment would be visually unacceptable.'

The planning inspector said the site seemed to be the most suitable site for mobile phone coverage in the area.

And she felt the mast would not post a health risk to children at nearby schools.

She added: 'The mast would be within the guidelines of non-ionizing protection guidelines for public exposure to radio waves.'
