Good News from OFSTED. Having carried out an interim inspection Ofsted have told Icklesham Church of England Primary School that it continues to be a good school. Headteachers, Mrs Higgs and Mrs Robinson,would like to say a huge ‘’Well Done’’ and ‘’Thank You’’to all the children,staff,governors,volunteers,parents and the wide school community who work so hard to make Icklesham School such a great place to learn in.

Sainsbury’s Active Kids 2013 are tokens which provide schools with PE resources and equipment. If you have a chance to get some pass them on to our school.

The February Parish Magazine is out with lots of useful information and items about the village Excellent value @ 50p. There are tributes to Maria Lucas. A reminder of that fine lady is the memorial which she gave to the Church dedicated to her husband Charles who died in 1992. It is the traditional lamp post which is very much in keeping with the hexagonal entrance porch designed in the 19th century by the great Victorian Church architect S.S. Teulon.

Icklesham Horticultural Society has published its schedule for 2013. The price is just £1 and you are automatically a member of the society. Your membership card gives you 10% discount if you buy something at Harborough Nurseries The schedule has details of each of the three shows in the year. Events are Spring Show Saturday 6 April; Plant Bring and Buy Sale with Craft Fair Saturday 4 May; Summer Show and village Fete Saturday 3 august and Autumn Show Saturday 25 October. Schedules are available from Ann Osborne, 22 High Fords, Icklesham or Judy Foster at Winchelsea Beach Post Office.

“Bolt” did a runner. Tony Pain and his sons Reece and Jake love their four ferrets and were in despair when the lovely white male had lived up to his name and gone from their house which is near the school. Tony did not know where to start so he went to Icklesham Village Stores and told them. Could Dexter and Karen help? Meanwhile drama in Manor Close as the white bundle of fur stared in at Rosie,the Raw’s Labrador..She barked and another lady screamed. Bold was easily persuaded to go in a cat cage and neighbours Laurence and Paulette Tiger took him to their warm kitchen where he slept. Paulette from the Massif Central of France realised her guest was un furet, (the French name for a domesticated polecat). Before contacting the RSPCA Paulette was starting to tell her story in the Village Stores but Karen didn’t even let her finish and within minutes Bolt was on his way home after his day and night in the wilds of Icklesham. Everybody is very grateful to Dexter and Karen. Isn’t a village shop useful.

The Memorial Hall is also a vital part of his community ‘s life. Tomorrow Saturday is Quiz Night with the Stoolball Club running the show.

The hard working Icklesham Trust Committee is responsible for both the Memorial Hall and the New Pavilion. At the end of 2012 Treasurer Ian McLean and Church rep Brian Pitt decided not to continue and everybody is very grateful for all they each did for the Trust. The Treasurer is Nick Warren and the Church Rep is now Andrew Pegg.

Road works lasting 4 days on the Main Road between Parsonage Lane and Goldhurst Green and affecting both Workhouse and Laurel Lane may be starting in mid or late February. The order commences 16 February.
