CHURCH NEWS: The 9.30 am service on Sunday will be Parish Eucharist for the sixth Sunday after Trinity, led by Rev. Malcolm Pickering. Sunday is the actual festival of St. Thomas the Apostle. It is the Patronal Festival at St. Thomas ‘s Church in Winchelsea, where there will be a very special service led by the Pegasus Choir from London, who will be singing a Palestrina Mass litugically.

WEATHER: The sun is hot when it shines, but there are so many grey clouds and further rain that one wonders if it really is summer. It seems to be a race before the next thunderstorm to even get the grass cut. The full moon was spectacular last week, low, luminous and beautiful.

FIVE VILLAGES HOUSE: The coffee morning and sale was very well attended and an enjoyable time for everyone. The incredible, SPLENDID amount of £712.65 was raised for the Mini Bus Club funds.. The previous best was £500, so you can imagine that this was greeted with very great pleasure. Very many thanks to everyone who worked so hard, provided goods for sale, and all those who came to support the event.

QUEEN’S HEAD: The live music on Sunday will be played by Crooked Style, playing “Rabbit, Rabbit.” There will be a Quiz Night on Wednesday 6th July in aid of Macmillan. Cancer Care. Ian is preparing to cycle 100 miles to raise more funds for the Charity. It is the Prudential Ride London Surrey 100. It is a staggered start, leaving early in the morning. You may make donations on justgiving/ian-mitchell30, or in the collecting bottles in the Queen’s Head or Royal Oak pubs. It will take place on Sunday 31st July, so reminders will be sent later.

SCHOOL NEWS: I haven’t heard any news about the Fayre yet, so later. And Sports Day SHOULD have happened - hope the weather was good. On 4th July the Learning Ambassadors will visit Parliament. From 6 - 8 July the Year 5 children will be on their P.G.L. trip. Did you know that P. G. L. stands for Peter Gordon Lawrence, the man who set up these trips? They were up and running when I was a teenager !!! Advance notice that the Leavers’ Service will be at 9.30 am on 21st July in Icklesham Church. The Head Teacher’s Awards this week go to Caterpillars, Poppy; Spiders, Xanthe; Dragonflies, Joe and Bees, Lilli. The class awards are as follows : Caterpillars, Michael and Rosie; Spiders,Cody and Taylor; Dragonflies, Kyle and Iona; Bees, Ollie and Josh. Well done everybody.
