Hundreds watch big switch-on

HUNDREDS of spectators descended on a Peacehaven street for the opening night of a charity festive lights spectacular.

Seven homes in Malines Avenue were transformed with thousands of coloured bulbs and models of kids' movie and TV characters, including Monsters Inc, Scooby Doo, Tom and Jerry, Postman Pat, the Teletubbies and Thomas the Tank Engine.

The display, created by the Burnage family and four neighbours, also featured the Santa and reindeer illuminations which graced the Hanningtons department store in Brighton for many years.

All donations made by visitors will go to the Royal Alexandra Children's Hospital in Brighton. The display will be lit every evening, from 5-7pm, until Boxing Day.
