Hospice shortlisted for grant

ST Michael’s Hospice in Hastings has been shortlisted for the Lloyds Bank Community Fund 2014.

By encouraging the public to vote, St Michael’s Hospice has a chance to be awarded a grant of up to £3,000 from Lloyds Bank to enable it to continue doing good work in the community.

St Michael’s Hospice is heavily dependent on the generosity of local individuals, companies, groups and trusts.

With less than 30 percent of total funding coming from the Government in the form of various grants they still need to raise more than £3.5 million each year to maintain their current levels of service.

Darran Penfold, trust and corporate fundraiser at St Michael’s Hospice, said: “The Lloyds Bank Community Fund will make a huge difference to the hospice.

“All donations help us to build the necessary income needed to continue providing high quality palliative care services to the people throughout Hastings and Rother at the time when they need it most.

“Please vote for St Michael’s Hospice to benefit from the Community Fund award.”

The Lloyds Bank Community Fund was set up to help local people across England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands and Isle of Man to have a positive impact at the heart of their community by giving grants to up to 1,400 local good causes in 350 communities.

There are four good causes shortlisted in each community and Lloyds Bank is inviting everyone to vote for the causes they’d most like to support.

Members of the public can vote for their preferred community group online, by SMS or Twitter, or in a Hastings or St Leonards branch of Lloyds bank up until October 10 2014.

The local good cause that receives most votes in each community will receive an award of £3,000, with the other groups receiving £2,000, £1,000 or £500 depending on the votes received.
