As Sussex fell silent to pay their respects to the fallen, we have collated a selection of images showing tributes to those who gave their lives.

Schools and community groups from around the district have worked hard on special commemorations to mark 100 years since the end of World War One.

Children from Little Barn Owls Nursery joined Farlington School in a remembrance event which saw every pupil and member of staff  place a hand-made poppy on the grass on the turning circle before a two minutes silence and the sounding of the Last Post.

Castlewood Primary School in Southwater wore red and black and participated in a remembrance assembly led by headteacher Mrs Nunns. The head girl and head boy read In Flanders Field while the rest of the school placed poppies made from plastic bottles in the school grounds and around a Silent Soldier lent to the school by Southwater Parish Council.
