Homes plan rejected

Councillors have thrown out plans for seven homes in Tilsmore Road, Heathfield.

Officers had recommended members of the Wealden development control south sub-committee to approve the application but this was overruled.

The plans related to land at Thorntree and at the rear of Kirkholme and Spinners in Tilsmore Road.

Earlier plans for eight properties on the site had been opposed by Heathfield and Waldron Parish Council and by residents.

Concerns included storm water drainage in the area and use of Tilsmore Road as a narrow local rat run to the High Street with no separate pavements.

They were also worried about overdevelopment of the site, loss of privacy and noise and disturbance.

Originally plans were submitted for 12 homes on the site, but the scheme has changed several times since then, firstly to an application for six detached dwellings, then eight, finishing up with the plans for seven homes.
