Heavy metal thieves make off with lead from roofs

A QUANTITY of lead has been reported stolen from the roof of King Offa primary school in Down Road.

Thieves struck at 3.30am on Saturday, May 7, first smearing mud over the lens of a closed circuit television (CCTV) camera to prevent the theft being recorded.

Lead was also stolen from the roof of Bexhill High School nursery at some time during last week and police believe the thefts may be linked.

In a separate incident between 11pm on Monday, May 9 and 7.30am on Tuesday, May 10 lead piping was stolen from a box on top of a vehicle parked in Barnhorn Road.
