Grants of up to £5,000 up for grabs

Voluntary and Community Sector Organisations can apply for a share of a West Sussex County Council grants programme that funds community-based activities for adults and older people.

The application process for this year’s Prevention and Wellbeing Grants Programme has opened.

Voluntary and community organisations can apply for up to £5,000 out of a total pot of £190,000. One of the key aims is for people to get out, make friends and see others. This could include arts and crafts, quizzes or computer courses.

Organisations will receive feedback and payment in August once the applications have been assessed by the relevant County Local Committees.

Last year awards ranged between £170 and £5,000 and ranged from awards for lunch club equipment to venue costs for support groups.

Peter Catchpole, Cabinet Member for Health and Adult Services, said: “These community-based services and activities will contribute to the aims of our prevention and well-being agenda.

“The grants can be for small or large projects and help support social aspects of an individual’s life and to aid people not to feel isolated.”
