Golden Wick Bingo Group donates yet again

Over the past four-and-a-half years the Golden Wick Bingo Group has raised more than £8,000 for charities and other good causes.

And to reflect the season of goodwill, the group has given away another £400, split between Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice, Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital, Macmillan Nurses and anotther charity, Sense.

Littlehampton mayor Alan Gammon, who was special guest at the group’s Christmas get-together, congratulated members on their fund-raising achievements and on the spirit of friendship generated among its members.

David Jones, chairman of the group, also praised the members for “keeping it together” in spite of three changes of venue during the year. He announced he would be taking a step back from the group to spend more time at home and in his volunteer capacity with the Children’s Society, but would still be attending about once a month, and was sure those taking over would do an excellent job.

He added that he would be personally delivering the donation to Chestnut Tree House to the hospice and would also be taking with him a further £100 from a member who had just celebrated her 80th birthday.

The group will start up again on Wednesday at Littlehampton United Church’s hall in High Street.

Among other good causes to benefit from the fund-raising was Wick Hall, which was given £5,000 towards its restoration.
