Once in full bloom the area will be an oasis of golden perennials with highlights of blue and white. TV gardener Alan Titchmarsh's flower of the year, the Californian lilac, also features in the design.

Seaford Town Council members Jill Rosser and Julian Peterson surveyed the completed planting this week.

Cllr Rosser said: 'As Lindsay and her chaps have been working there the reactions have been very positive. People really like it and the council is delighted.'

Incorporated in the garden is the fountain bought by the town to commemorate Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee.

Until recently it sat neglected at the Salts Recreation Ground. The council has commissioned a sundial which will sit at its top.
