Get ready for charity walk 2011

BEXHILL'S Rotarians are already preparing for next year's community charity walk due to take place on Sunday June 12.

During the last 10 years, the numbers of walkers and benefiting charities and good causes have grown dramatically and now the total amount raised through sponsorship is approximately £250,000.

Last June, Eva Heyes single-handedly (or double footedly) raised sponsorship of £777 for the Alzheimers Society East Sussex by completing the seven-mile walk from Bexhill to Crowhurst and back – the eighth year that she has raised funds for the charity.

On the same day Sarah Smith raised £1,275 for Hearing Concern and Cavan O’Connor raised £750 for Sidley Cricket Club.

The Alzheimers Society also held a memory walk in September when supporters raised approximately £4,000, and next spring community fundraiser Sarah Neighbour is carrying out a sponsored parachute jump over Headcorn airfield.
