FORD ECO-TOWN: Public exhibition to unveil plans

An exhibition will give Bognor Regis residents the chance to find out about proposals for a nearby eco-town.

The display between noon and 8pm on June 20 at the Regis Centre, Belmont Street, will show the plans for the sole development now being proposed around Ford Airfield.

The promoters of the two original schemes '“ Ford Enterprise Hub and Ford Airfield Vision Group '“ have joined together to present a combined approach.

The exhibition is also being staged at Littlehampton's Look and Sea Visitors Centre on June 19 and Ford Airfield market from 7.30am to 2pm on June 21.

Views about the scheme for 5,000 homes can also be submitted on a dedicated website from June 19.

Rod Hague, of the Ford Airfield Vision Group, said: "Ford Airfield is a major regeneration opportunity that could deliver much needed sustainable housing, jobs and community facilities for Arun.

"It is important that people from across the district have the opportunity to consider our plans and express their views and help us shape the proposals to create an exemplar sustainable community."

The vision group of landowners is being backed by builders, Wates Developments and Redrow Homes.

The eco-town is intended to be a development which includes new jobs and services to encourage a 'low carbon' lifestyle of walking, cycling or travelling by public transport.

It is being proposed for a 350 hectare, partially brownfield, site between Yapton, Ford and Climping.
