Flower festival adds some food for thought in Climping

Visitors to Climping will be able to revel in its biggest festival weekend.

The village's regular open gardens event and scarecrow celebration is being joined this year for the first time by a food and craft festival.

Adding to the colour and interest will be a flower festival in the village's St Mary's Church.

The fun will take place throughout June 14 and 15.

Twenty gardens around the village will be open to the public for the fifth event of its kind. Entry is 5, children free, with a free minibus from the designated car parks.

The scarecrows will be congregating at the church hall at 11am on June 14. Everyone is invited to take part. Plenty to tempt the tastebuds will be on show in a marquee in the village hall grounds during the weekend.

At least 25 stalls selling food and craft have been booked. There will also be plenty of entertainment activities for the whole family.

They include an exhibition of classic cars and motor bikes, a food trail and cookery demonstrations. Entry is 2.50 or 5 for a family.

Meanwhile, St Mary's is being decorated by parishioners on the theme A Country Church and will be open on June 14-16.

A Songs of Praise service, Food, Flowers and Faith, will take place at 6.30pm on June 15.

Getting between the attractions will be easy with free minibuses circulating the village all weekend.

Proceeds from the festivals will be divided between the church and St Mary's Primary School in the village.
