'Fantastic' college celebrates A Levels

STUDENTS and staff at Bexhill College have been celebrating a new record pass rate for A levels.

Results published yesterday confirmed the college as one of the top performing sixth forms in the county with a 99.01 per cent pass rate.

The result is almost three per cent better than the national average of 96.2 per cent.

A total of 810 A level exams were sat at the college, with over 73 per cent of students achieving the top A - C bands.

It is the 12th consecutive year the college has achieved a pass rate above the national figure.

Results of vocational exams were "equally as strong" confirming it was not only A level students who had reason to celebrate.

A level exams have been labelled as "too easy" by some critics, but college principal Karen Hucker was keen to point out the hard work needed to gain such excellent results.

She said: "Congratulations go to all our students who have performed so well in their examinations.

"The students have to study very hard for two years to achieve these qualifications and we are extremely proud of their achievements.

The well-deserved results reflect the incredible effort, dedication and determination of everyone involved - students, parents and staff. It is a fantastic achievement."

Bexhill college officials say they have a record number of applications for the coming academic year.
