Fans queue overnightfor FA Cup tickets

FA CUP fever returned to Broadfield Stadium at Crawley this weekend as eager fans queued overnight to reserve their tickets for the biggest match for many years involving a West Sussex club.

Non-League club Crawley Town travel to Old Trafford on Saturday February 19 to take on current Premier League leaders Manchester Utd.

The fifth round tie will decide who reaches the last eight of the world famous competition and will be televised live on ITV.

The club sold out their allocation of 9,000 tickets over the course of three days to supporters who turned up to pay by cash or cheque.

Just 1,200 tickets have been retained by Manchester Utd who are designated to sell them on behalf of Crawley Town over the phone,

Anyone wanting to buy the last remaining tickets should call 0161-8688-009 and quote their credit or debit card number.

The tickets are priced at £41 for adults, £23 for over-65s and £15 for Under-16s.

Crawley Town chief executive Alan Williams said: “Everyone wants to be part of the biggest game in Crawley’s history. We geared up for it and managed to achieve a smooth operation.

“Everyone who joined the queue before 10am on Sunday got their tickets.”

Crawley have requested an extra 3,000 tickets for their fans and are waiting to hear from Manchester.

Tickets went on sale to season ticket holders on Friday and Saturday and they snapped them all up but the last 2,800 tickets went on general sale on Sunday at 9am.

Fans started queuing from 11pm on Saturday night to be first in line for Sunday’s sale and club officials arrived on Sunday to see a row of tents that had sprung up in the car park overnight.
