Crunch public meeting to quiz developers over Bognor regeneration

Hundreds of people will be given the chance to put the developers of Bognor Regis' future on the spot.

An unprecedented public meeting has been arranged for next month to tackle the town's regeneration. Representatives of the major partners in the varied schemes under way will be present. A full and frank discussion of their progress is promised.

The meeting will take place at 7pm on October 8 at the Shoreline Conference Centre within Butlins.

The venue has a capacity of 300-plus. Cllr Norman Dingemans, the chairman of Arun's Bognor Regis sub-committee, said: "It will be an important meeting to discuss how the plans for the town are still moving positively forward and have not come to a terrible halt."

It was essential that the companies involved with the various schemes had the chance to explain their positions.

This would enable the truth to be explained to residents rather than the situation being distorted by various interest groups to suit their own agendas, he added.

Companies which have confirmed their presence include Sime Darby (Lec Refrigeration site), St Modwen (town centre regeneration), Butlins, the University of Chichester and West Sussex County Council.
