Corrina visited her children’s school, St Mary’s Catholic School, in Glamis Street, Bognor Regis, on Wednesday to read from Animania, an animal alphabet book with a twist.

Described as an ‘utterly ridiculous rhyming picture book’ aimed children aged four to eight, the book features imaginary creatures.

Corrina is a children’s illustrator who has worked with several authors over the last few years, but this is her first book of her own.

She said: “It was a huge success. The children seemed to enjoy my silly little book and were very excited when I introduced the surprise guests.”

Dale Preece-Kelly, owner of Critterrish Allsorts, took along a skunk, blue-tongued skin, boa constrictor to show the key stage one children and then asked them to create their own Animania character.

“He asked them to write a poem like the characters in Animania, using everything they had been taught in the session,” added Corrina.

“It was so much fun and a fantastic start to my author visits.”

Corrina is a firm believer in laughter being the best medicine, so the aim of the book is to make learning fun and spread some cheer.

Animania, priced £6.50, is published by Nean’s Dream Books. The accompanying colouring book is £3.99.
