Woman seriously injured in collision with suspected drug driver on A259 in Angmering

A woman has been seriously injured in a collision with a suspected drug driver on the A259 in Angmering.

Emergency services responded to a two-car collision on the Roundstone By-Pass at 2.25pm yesterday afternoon (December 21), involving a Peugeot 206 and Audi A4.

A 58-year-old female passenger in the Audi was treated for serious head injuries at Worthing Hospital, police said, while the 22-year-old driver and another passenger, also 22, sustained minor injuries.

The 43-year-old man driving the Peugeot was arrested on suspicion of drug driving, possession of cocaine, taking the vehicle without consent, driving without a licence, and having no insurance. After being interviewed he was released under investigation.

The collision added to congestion already built up in the construction area around Haskins Garden Centre, causing significant delays into the afternoon.
