Violent criminal absconds from jail

Andrew Akuffo, aged 44, is serving a life sentence for drug and firearm related offences.

Sussex Police say the man, who was last seen by prison staff on the morning of Wednesday October 28, ‘has a history of violence’.

He is described as 5ft 5inches, of medium build, with brown hair and some facial hair. The criminal has a mole on his left cheek and chipped front teeth.

DS Russ Burgess said: “Akuffo, who also uses the surname Beckley, absconded from the prison and we believe he may have made his way to Tulse Hill in London, although we are are unsure where he may be.

“We are circulating his details because Akuffo, who has been in prison for nine years, has a history of violence.”

Members of the public are warned not to approach Akuffo if he is seen.
