Police in search for ‘mindless hooligans’ caught on CCTV

A GANG of ‘mindless hooligans’ is wanted by Horsham police following a spate of vandalism in Pulborough.

Residents suffered damage to their cars after rocks were used to dent roofs and wings mirrors were smashed in a number of incidents taken place from October last year.

Local Nick Kimber said ‘residents felt like they had seen it all before’ when ‘trouble kicked off again’ early morning Saturday January 4 on Rectory Lane.

Further damage was caused to a number of vehicles.

“The Pulborough youths have been making a name for themselves as mindless hooligans in recent months,” he said. Horsham police say they are linking the incidents and investigations are underway.

Residents have also suffered a theft of wheelie bins, garden tools, ornaments and signs.

PS Bob Trevis, of the Neighbourhood Policing Team at Pulborough, said: “It is clear that these incidents are very frustrating for the persons that suffer these incidents of damage and anti social behaviour.

“Generally there has been a noticeable reduction in these types of crime in the Horsham district but this situation shows how a relatively small group of people can cause a nuisance not only for the victims of crime but the community generally.

“I would urge parents of teenagers in the Pulborough area to consider whether their children could be involved in these incidents and take steps to prevent them re-occuring.

“Our local policing team will be enhancing patrols in the area and will follow lines of enquiry to identify the offenders.

“I would also ask for anyone with information that can assist us in our enquiries to either contact Sussex Police on the non emergency number of 101 or alternatively on Crime Stoppers by phoning 0800 555 111.”
