Family of missing Bognor woman issue poignant appeal

The family of a bipolar woman missing from Bognor Regis have issued a touching appeal for information.

A statement on behalf of her family said: “Sandra has touched the lives of so many people she has met or befriended over the years in West Sussex, Lancaster and Cumbria.

“She is a generous, loving spirit always prepared to go that extra mile to help and support others, despite the difficulties she has had for many years coping with her own bipolar disorder.

“She is deeply loved by her family, who hope that she remains safe and can re-start her life with the care and support she needs to start flourishing again.

“If you happen to see Sandra nearby, you will either be struck by how amiable and engaging she is as she talks with somebody she may never have met, or, alternatively, how quiet and withdrawn she is, almost ‘not there’. That’s bipolar. We and many, many people love her and we want her back.”

Sandra was last seen wearing knee-length black and white tweed coat, a scarf and black hat. She was believed to have been last sighted in the Barnham area.

Sgt Paul Coles, from Arun’s Neighbourhood Response Team, said: “We are obviously concerned about the whereabouts of Sandra and urge anyone who has seen her, or thinks they have, to please contact Sussex Police on 101.

“It is very out of character for Sandra to be out of touch with her family for so long. We have dedicated search teams out looking for Sandra in the local area.

“Anyone with any information is asked to call 0772 of 3 February.”
