A woman bravely fought off a knifeman who tried to steal her handbag in a daylight attempted robbery in Horsham.
Police said the 40-year-old was attacked as she walked through New Street, next to the parade of shops near Livingstone Road, just after 11am on Thursday February 15.
The man tried to snatch her handbag and threatened her with a knife. Officers said she fought him off and he fled the scene.
Police are connecting the incident to a stabbing in Rushams Road over the weekend and have arrested a teenager in connection with the incidents.
Officers said a 17-year-old was left with two stab wounds - in his back and his arm - after he was robbed at the junction with Victory Road in the early hours of Sunday morning (February 18).
The thief demanded the victim’s phone which he handed over and then ran off.
Police said an 18-year-old man, from Horsham, has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and attempted robbery and has been released under investigation.
Detectives are still appealing for information.
