Armed police respond to incident in St Leonards

Armed police were called to an address in St Leonards due to concerns for the safety of a man.

Sussex Police said officers were called to the property in De Cham Road, St Leonards, at 9.52am on Monday (January 4).

A spokesman said the response was 'due to concerns for the welfare and safety of a man living there'.

Enquiries have been made and the man was found to be safe, police added.

The Sussex Police spokesman said: "Armed officers were included in the police response as a firearm was reported to be present. However no firearm was found and there is no danger to local people."
