Crawley Schools help raise money for Sports Relief

Two Crawley schools held successful events for Sport Relief last week.

Maidenbower Junior School and Milton Mount School both held sports events on Friday March 18 to raise money for the charity.

Sport Relief brings people together to compete in sports and raise money for vulnerable people in both the UK and across the world.

Maidenbower Junior School had a fun-filled day for its four year groups who all did sponsored activities.

In the morning, internet dance sensation Jump Start Jonny led a dance for each year group.

This was followed by an obstacle course with a walk, run or jog of the Maidenbower Mile (the mile around the school), which all took place on school grounds.

The day contributed to the school’s longterm goal of raising £7000 for Sport Relief.

Meanwhile, pupils at Milton Mouth School raised over £225 for the charity.Students cycled over ten kilometers in laps of the playground, while others took part in a scooter obstacle course.

The school recently received a silver Bike-It award from Sustrans, a charity for sustainable energy. This means that the school is showing a continued dedication to promoting bike riding to school.

The school is now working towards a gold award.

In the past two years, Sports Relief has raised enough money to send 189,000 children around the globe to school, help fund 23 projects that support dementia sufferers, to name a few successes.
