Battle to stop green waste charge. Petition launched to oppose plans for an annual charge for emptying green waste bins. Horsham District Council proposes that, from June 1, residents will only have their brown-topped bins emptied if they have paid a £29 annual fee. When the County Times went to press, the petition had 150 signatures.

Plans to turn a former restaurant in Brighton Road into a Tesco Express. The Silver Wok site, formerly the St Leonard’s Arms, will be a convenience store by this summer, if the plan goes ahead.

Fatal crash on the A29 - case to be heard in crown court. A driver has been charged with dangerous driving, and causing death by dangerous driving, following the death of a teacher from Pulborough. The case was transferred to Lewes Crown Court this week.
