COUNCILS FACE STRIKE ACTION

LOCAL government staff across East Sussex are preparing to go on strike tomorrow (March 28)

The industrial action planned is part of a national dispute over pensions.

A spokesman for Wealden District Council said it hoped the strike would not affect the good relations normally enjoyed between the council, its union membership and the people of Wealden.

Wealden District Council will try to ensure that services of the highest priority to the community are not interrupted, but we do expect the industrial action to have some effect. Its website, www.wealden.gov.uk ,will be able to provide further details.

The council spokesman said: 'It will help us if non-urgent enquiries can wait until the following day.

'Arrangements have been made to prioritise our refuse collection services should it be necessary. If you are a member of the CROWN scheme, please keep your containers left out for collection. Any missed collections will be collected during the following week.'
