Chaplain's gender journey

A FORMER male chaplain in a Sussex hospital has started living and working as a woman.

Christina Beardsley, formerly known as Christopher, may undergo a sex change operation within two years, following her period of transition .

She plans to continue her job at Southlands Hospital, Shoreham, and has the support of management and colleagues.

Christina, 49, spent seven months planning for the day when she would go to work as a woman.

She said: The day went very well. I was already perceived as female by some patients and relatives.

Most of the reactions were from people who said You look very nice today .

Christina, who had always felt she was female, began work at Southlands Hospitaljust over a year ago but was not sure at the time if she would go ahead with her change of lifestyle.
