Certificate bid for site in Walberton

Joseph Gess has applied to Arun District Council for a certificate of lawfulness for the existing use of Fairfield on Eastergate Lane.

He also wants to establish the use of the land for parking up to five lorries there.

The buildings are used as offices for the fairground and amusement arcade business.

His planning agent, Paul Johnson, says in a letter to the council that John Gess is willing to confirm it has been used continually since then to store the fairground and amusement arcade features and materials.

Mr Gess originally operated the business at the site in the 1990s.

He is also prepared to testify the buildings have been continually used for the administration of the business.

“I can confirm that the external appearance of the buildings has not changed since the early 1990s and that there are no plans for any changes,” states Mr Johnson.

Mr Johnson has also supplied three dated photographs of the site to the council to provide further evidence of the purpose to which it has been put.

The commercial area on the site comprises a hardstanding of 1,148sq m.
