Quiz Night: There will not be an evening event after the Show this year so funds must be raised to cover the cost of the marquee hire. There will be a Quiz Night in the Village Hall on Saturday the 16th July to this end, tickets are available in the Village Store costing £5 per head, or contact Vanessa on 01424 844363 and teams will be of six people only. This is a general knowledge Quiz, NOT a horticultural one. Bring your own refreshments and there will be a licensed bar. Village Quiz nights are always good for a fun night out, so do make a note of the date and start thinking of who will be in your team and what to call yourselves!

The Family Service: It was a delight last Sunday to see lots of families making their way up the hill to St Laurence’s church just before 10am for the Family Morning Service. The church was filled with an anticipatory buzz when some of the children from Catsfield School led by the Head Sally Clark & her deputy John Elms and their families arrived to participate in the service which started with a lively rendition of ‘All things bright and beautiful’. The lesson and the prayers were read by the children and between these there was an excellent presentation of the School’s project ‘From Farm to Fork’. A lovely modern hymn chosen by the children entitled ‘Hosanna’ came next and finally Father Michael thanked the children and teachers for their efforts and after the blessing, well-deserved refreshments were enjoyed by all.

Catsfield School Fete: Catsfield C of E Primary School PTA will be holding their very popular Summer Fete tomorrow, Saturday 2nd July from 12pm – 3pm at the school and all are invited to attend. There will be all the usual games and attractions, BBQ and Pimms, a Grand Draw and guess the Balloons in the Car competition. Organizing and running a fete is an enormous amount of work and this would not happen without the immense efforts of Simon Richardson, chairman of the PTA and all the committee. The PTA pays for many things throughout the year, ranging from the smaller things like money towards trips and the text messaging service, as well as helping towards many of the children’s ‘treats’, to the larger projects such as the squashy tarmac under the adventure playground. The school is very grateful for their support.

Mobile Library: The East Sussex Mobile Library will be in its usual place outside the Village Hall today from 11.55am until 12.30pm Friday 1s t July.
