Margaret has been a bursar for 16 years and Paula has more than ten years' experience.

But their qualification has enabled them to develop their skills to enable them to lead and manage their schools and to work in collaboration with others.

Paula explained: 'The role of the school business manager is now widely recognised as crucial in helping schools make better use of their resources and facilities.

'A growing number of business managers have key roles in school leadership teams.'

She and Margaret received their diplomas at the NCSL's learning and conference centre along with 70 other bursars from around the country.
