Brother of dead make-up artist pays tribute

The brother of make-up artist Diane Chenery-Wickens has paid tribute to her.

Speaking at the site where her body was found Russell Wickens said: 'As you know, it has been confirmed that the body discovered at Little Horsted on Thursday is Diane.

'This is a deeply distressing time for our family, news that in many ways we have been expecting and yet of course are wholly unprepared for. That we will never see Diane again is devastating to us all. We can only hope that the police investigation will eventually help us make sense of this tragedy. However, after so much uncertainty, it allows us to move on and Diane would have wanted that.

'No words can truly do Diane justice. However, we would like to take this opportunity to try. Diane lived a full, rich life, loved and adored by all that knew her. She was a kind, - the kindest - loving, thoughtful and deeply-caring person. Those that knew and loved her - and there were many - are today mourning a woman of rare, deep character.

'She will be missed by not just her family and many friends, but also countless appreciative colleagues in the Film and TV industry. She was much-loved that is very clear.

'Since the announcement, we continue to receive a constant stream of calls from disbelieving people, all of whom are struggling to come to terms with this news. Certainly we are too and her loss to us is devastating.'

Mrs Chenery-Wickens' body was found by a dog walker in Worth Lane at Little Horsted, near Uckfield, on Thursday last week.

Dental records were used to identify her.

Her husband David Chenery-Wickens, 51, from Duddleswell, was remanded in custody by Hastings Magistrates Court on Saturday charged with murder.

He is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court on August 22.
