Bognor's Laburnum Grove pupils get hands-on lessons in road safety

CHILDREN at Laburnum Grove Junior School got to grips with crossing the road safely in a series of lessons.

The youngsters, in year three at the school, were taught the dangers of crossing the road on a mocked-up street, which was set up in the school's car park.

The lessons are part of the school's keeping safe curriculum, and the work has been led by the West Sussex Road Safety Team.

Headteacher Pip Otton said: "Sadly, so far this year, there have been 30 children either seriously injured or killed in Sussex alone.

"Even one death is one too many and we are very keen to work with parents and children to educate all in road safety."
