Becoming a retained firefighter involves a two-week training course at the Eastbourne headquarters training centre, followed by a further two weeks learning to use breathing apparatus.

Drill nights are held weekly, lasting about two and a half hours.

The job can be combined as part-time working with other employment, though alerters must be carried in order to respond to calls.

The Jobs Fair is for people interested in finding employment or need any advice and guidance. It takes place at Tilling Green Community Centre on Tuesday May 5 between 1- 4pm.
