Bersted boy meets Peter Andre

It's an exciting week for little Charlie Dowling.

Not only does he turn seven at the weekend but last Saturday he got to meet his idol, the singer Peter Andre.

Charlie, who has cancer, got to meet the star at Fontwell Racecourse just before he played a gig in front of thousands of people.

The youngster had a wonderful time thanks to racecourse manager Phil Bell, who helped make the dream come true.

He met Charlie and his family earlier this year after giving them a VIP ticket for a special fun day at Fontwell.

On Saturday, the family, who live in Bersted, enjoyed watching the concert from a special box.

Charlie’s mother Amy Connellan said: “Peter was absolutely brilliant.

“When he was on stage he kept saying ‘I want to introduce you to my friend Charlie, he’s a very brave boy’ and he was just brilliant.”

Before the concert Charlie also got to meet one of the support acts before spending around 15 minutes with Andre.

Charlie attends Edward Bryant Primary School, and loves reading and maths.

During the evening the family heard Andre perform a bevy of hits including Mysterious Girl, Defender, Behind Closed Doors and his new hit Perfect Night.

The former I’m A Celebrity star put on an entertaining performance to delight his fans.
