East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service are once again looking to down grade Battle Fire station, which covers Ashburnahm & Penhurst. Having a short period for consultation, the crew at Battle are asking your help to fight this decision. You can aid them by completing an online questionnaire at www.esfrs.org/publicconsultation, which lodges your objections. There will also be a public meeting at The Memorial Hall, Battle on the April 7, 7.30p.m to which you are invited to attend.
Ashburnham Local History Group are meeting on April 7, 7.30pm at Ashburnham Church Hall. Subjects being looked at this month include: ‘The Medieval, Tudor and Jacobean Deer Park and Ashburnham. All are very welcome to attend.

They welcome Andrea Baldry who will be demonstrating cake icing techniques to help you achieve that professional look. The evening will include refreshments. WI members free, visitors £2. Hide AdThe next Village Lunch is on April 16, at Ashburnham Village Hall, 12.30p.m. Lunch is cooked every month for any older residents in the villages who would like a bit of company and a delicious meal. The Annual Parish Meeting will take place on Thursday, April 17 at Ashburnham Village Hall. Refreshments, served by the men of M.I. will be available from 6pm. Proceedings commence at 7p.m. The format is planned to be similar to last year with all village clubs and societies being invited to participate.
The Ashburnham and Penhurst Gardening Club are next meeting on April 22 at Ashburnham Church Hall, 7.30pm. This month they are having a workshop on the designs for the garden around the War Memorial. The Afternoon Book Group are next getting together on Friday, April 25, 2pm. During April they will be reading ‘The 100 Year Old Man Who Climbed out of the Window and Disappeared.’, by Jonas Jonasson. The story of Allan Karlsson who vanishes from his care home on his 100th birthday. During his ensuing adventures, they learn about his remarkable life.
