During the first raid the Peugeot was seen displaying registration plates, HF04 EWC, stolen from the Lewes area.

DI Colin Dowle said: 'We believe that the suspects were travelling through Sussex whilst committing these crimes.

'If anyone remembers seeing a vehicle fitting this description travelling from Lewes, or en route to Forest Row, we would like to hear from them.

'We would be especially interested to hear from anyone who saw a vehicle fitting this description on any garage forecourt.'
