A24 night closures planned

The road, between the Farthings Hill and Hop Oast roundabouts, has been reduced to a single lane in each direction since June for an 18-month programme of roadworks which will see a new junction link the developments either side of the dual carriageway.

The first closures in early September are required to access the water main for work associated with the on-going carriageway improvement, while the closures in late October are for the installation of new road and foot bridges over the A24.

Both lanes will be closed between Farthings Hill and Hop Oast junctions from 8pm and will reopen the following morning at 5.30am, with the existing single lane traffic management restrictions.

A diversion route through Horsham town centre will be in place and signs will direct motorists through the town.

In September the A24 closures will take place each night on Monday September 8 to Friday September 12 in two stages.

The first stage will start on the southbound carriageway on Monday and Tuesday, with both lanes southbound closed from 8pm.

The southbound carriageway will re-open at 5.30am the following morning.

The northbound carriageway night closures will take place on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Both northbound lanes of the carriageway will close from 8pm, with a single lane of the carriageway re-opening at 5.30am the following morning.

In October the night closures for the bridge installation works are due to take place from Thursday October 23 and are scheduled to take two weeks.

During this time both the north and south bound lanes of the A24 carriageway will be closed from 8pm to 5.30am the following morning.

The roadworks in October will see a large crane used to install the new bridges.
