For a price, families and children can get themselves lost in the three acre maze and then plan their escape.

The maize maze is an American idea which is catching on fast in this country.

The concept of planting a field of maize in the spring, creating a pattern in the crop, which can grow as high as 7ft, and harvesting the crop in the autumn ensures that every maze is unique.

'All farmers have to diversify these days and we are hoping to gain some valuable revenue and give people some fun as well,' said Tom.

'We are also inviting members of the public to come along and enjoy our play area and assault course and make friends with the animals, including alpacas from the Andes.'

The maze opens today (Friday).
